Corner System
The strength of log construction comes from the corners, where the walls meet. Corners go a long way toward defining the home's appearance and can intersect, overlap or interlock.
The Saddle-Notched series includes the "Pioneer", "Settler", and "Mountaineer", each with a true drip edge that many consider a triple tongue and groove. The outer (drip edge) tongue overlaps the log below, effectively stopping air and water infiltration. The corners are all precision cut for a perfect fit, allowing for maximum strength with no protruding ledges for water to collect.
The Dovetail Series includes the "Frontiersman" and "Pilgrim", having machine-cut dovetail corners for the traditional log home look. The double tongue and groove and wood to wood joints give maximum strength with minimal movement. The "Frontiersman" offers an optional interior chink joint. Our Dovetail Series may be hand hewn on either side as an option.
The Shiplap Series, including the "Colonial", is more contemporary, drawing a sense of a conventional home rather than a log home. Its appearance is that of lap siding with optional corner trim boards disguising the massive shiplap corners cut out of the timbers. An optional dovetail corner is also offered on these precision milled double tongue and grooved logs.
When considering a log home, remember, you're not buying just a house - you're buying your lifestyle!
