Log Design and Log Profiles The greatest need in any log system is to stop water and air infiltration. Water sealants commonly required on non-cypress log homes may prevent water from entering the log, but these sealants do nothing to stop water from entering a poorly designed log system.  Ledges or protrusions on an exterior wall will give water the opportunity to penetrate the wall. With the unequaled qualities of center cut engineered timbers from Tidewater Red Cypress, we have designed what we firmly believe to be the finest log system available today. Log Profiles PIONEER: A 6" x 6" log with a round exterior and round interior profile, double tongue and groove, plus an exclusive drip edge.  Corners are precision cut saddle notches. SETTLER: A 6" x 6" log with a round exterior and flat, V-jointed interior profile, with all the features of the "Pioneer Series". A 6" x 8" log is available in our "Specialty Series". MOUNTAINEER: An 8" thick log with a round exterior and the option of round or flat interior. These massive logs are double tongue and grooved with the exclusive drip edge and precision cut saddle-notched corners. FRONTIERSMAN: A 6" x 8" log with double toungue and groove wood to wood joint, flat on both sides with options of hand hewn exterior and a chink joint. The interior is smooth V-joint, also with the hand hewn and chink joint options.  The dovetail corners give the nostalgic appearance of the Appalachian log. PILGRIM: A 6" x 8" log with double tongue and groove wood to wood joint with flat V-jointed interior and exteriors, with the option of the rough sawn hand hewn exterior. Corner are the nostalgic dovetails. COLONIAL: A 6" x 6 " log designed to give the appearance of the old-fashioned clapboard home.  The exterior features a beveled lap face and the interior a flat V-joint.  A double tongue and groove joint ensures maximum strength.  Standard corners are shiplap with trim boards. SPECIALTY SERIES: Featuring logs from 8" x 8" round/round log to a 6" x 12" dovetailed corner system.
